Guide

The IPTV TV guide (EPG), explained and fixed

Short version: the EPG is the on-screen schedule that comes with your playlist. Sign in with the Xtream login and most apps load it automatically. If it is empty, refresh it; if times are wrong, set a time offset in the app.

A playlist on its own is just a list of channels. The EPG turns it into something that feels like real TV: you can see that the match starts at 8, scroll ahead to tonight's films, and jump straight to a programme. It is worth five minutes to get it right.

Where the guide comes from

Your Playlist IPTV subscription provides schedule data alongside the channel list. Your player app downloads it and matches each listing to a channel. With an Xtream Codes login, apps usually fetch the guide automatically. With a plain M3U URL, some apps need the separate EPG address, which is included in your activation details.

Fixing the three common problems

1. The guide is completely empty

  • Give it a few minutes after first setup; the download can be large.
  • Find "Update EPG" or "Refresh guide" in the app settings and run it.
  • If you used an M3U URL, add the EPG URL from your activation email, or switch to the Xtream login.

2. Times are off by a few hours

Open the EPG settings and change the time offset (sometimes called "EPG shift" or "time zone") until the current programme lines up with what is actually playing.

3. Some channels show "No information"

That is normal for channels that do not publish schedules, such as event channels or 24/7 movie channels. They still play fine.

Keep it fresh: set the app to update the guide automatically every day. Guides only cover a few days ahead, so an app that never refreshes eventually goes blank.

Getting more from the guide

  • Use the grid view to browse by time instead of by channel.
  • Set reminders, where your app supports them, for matches and premieres.
  • Combine the guide with Favourites so it only shows the channels you actually watch.

Frequently asked questions

What does EPG stand for?

Electronic Program Guide: the on-screen TV listing that shows what is on now, what is next, and the schedule for the coming days.

Why is my guide empty?

Usually the guide has not finished downloading yet, or the app needs a separate EPG URL. Wait a few minutes after first setup, then refresh the EPG in settings. Using the Xtream login normally loads the guide automatically.

Why are programme times wrong by a few hours?

The guide is in a different time zone from you. Set a time offset in your player app's EPG settings.

Why do some channels have no guide data?

Not every channel publishes schedule data. Event channels, some regional channels, and 24/7 channels often show no listings even though they play normally.
